ABOUT THE WORK
Basic Beanie is easy, fun and quick to knit. The pattern is developed for beginners, and therefore includes video guides for all techniques, and does not use any difficult techniques or abbreviations.
Basic Beanie is knitted from the bottom up, on circular needles size 6 mm in rib, knit 1, purl 1. First knit the folded edge, which is folded double.
If you have a 40 cm circular needle (measured from tip to tip) then use it, otherwise you can knit with magic loop.
Size 1 fits a child from about 3 years and up, size 2 fits women and size 3 fits a man.
CHOOSING YARN
I knitted my hat in 1 strand of Angora yarn from Mondial + 1 strand of Double Sunday from Sandness, as well as a mix of yarn scraps. I knitted with 2-3 strands at a time.
Alternatively, the Basic Beanie can be knitted from 100 grams Nepal from Drops 65% Peruvian Highland Wool, 35% Superfine Alpaca, 50 g = approx. 75 meters together with 25 grams Kid Silk Mohair from Drops 75% mohair, 25% silk, 25 grams = approx. 210 meters
Note: if you don't like fluff in the eyes, avoid mohair around the eye hole.
Enjoy!
