Crochet hook 3 mm (for the cat)

Double pointed needles 2.5 mm (for loops)

YARN SUGGESTIONS

For the cat Drops Alpakka, 100% Alpaca, 50 g = 167 meters (max 20 g) held double or leftover yarn from the warehouse with corresponding thickness.

For bows Drops Fabel 75% Wool, 25% Polyamide, 50 g = 205 meters (max 20 g) or leftover yarn from stock, with a similar thickness.

Tip If you want a larger cat, just use a slightly thicker yarn and a correspondingly thicker crochet hook. Experiment with the expression and thickness, possibly adding mohair to give it a more “furry look”.

ABOUT THE WORK

This one is for all the crazy cat ladies out there. Can a sweater only get better with the addition of a cat? I think we can agree on that.

This is a pattern for a crochet cat appliqué that can be sewn onto anything - here it is sewn onto the Beginner Blouse.

When I was about a year old, my family took in a stray kitten. I loved her like a sister, and we spoke to each other in our own language.

For me, the cat is a symbol of strength, independence and playfulness. It dares to be exactly as it is, and doesn't really care whether you like it or not. It is tenacious, brave, mysterious. And it is said to have nine lives. That's why I have now given you the opportunity to add a little of that energy to your next sweater, or one of your old ones that needs a new lease of life.

The pattern for the crocheted cat was developed in collaboration with Louise Johannesen , who was an intern with me in the fall of 2025. She has spiced up the pattern with fantastic illustrations that perfectly match the cat's playfulness.
