A small scrap of wool, cotton or something else for the collar and the hole on the back – make sure this yarn is not too thick.

Recommended crochet hook:  5mm

Knitting tension:  9 stitches garter stitch on 10mm needle = 10cm

Sizes: 1, 2, 3, 4

Finished goals:

Chest measurement: approx. 112, 120, 128, 136cm
Length (from shoulder to bottom edge): approx. 46, 48, 50, 52cm – or desired length

ABOUT THE WORK
The top is knitted from the top down on needle size 10. First knit the front piece down to the armhole, then knit the back piece down to the armhole. At the hole on the back, divide the work in two and knit the sides separately. The hole is finished by joining the two sides on the circular needle. When the front and back pieces are the same length, join the work and knit in the round until the work is the correct length.

The sleeves are made by picking up stitches along the armhole and knitting reverse rows with German shortrows (gs) to give it shape over the shoulder. Finally, pick up stitches along the hole in the back and knit a rib edge on needle size 6.5.
Then crochet a scalloped edge around the neckline.

The top is short with a wide "boxy" and slightly oversized fit.

The elf girl's top is inspired by an elf girl with a hole in her back. A mysterious feminine creature who dances all night long.

YARN

I have used Drops Melody for the top in the picture. Try it out, with the very thin mohair qualities you need to lay 3-4 strands together to get the right knitting tension. You can also experiment with other types of yarn, the most important thing is that you get the right knitting tension (somewhat).

For the hole in the back I have chosen a single strand of thin mohair. For the collar I have used cotton yarn.

Is your yarn stock low - or does it just need a breath of fresh air? Then buy a Stopgarnspil package from Garnspecialisten, which sells deadstock and surplus yarn that would have been burned if they hadn't saved it.
