ABOUT THE WORK
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM/ADVANCED
Shelly Toppen is named after the fine shells we find at the water's edge, and after Barbie's little sister Shelly, who I always thought was much cooler than Barbie.
The top is something in between a t-shirt and a vest. It has small fine sleeves and the neck is finished with a rolled hem.
The top is knitted with a single structure, consisting of knit and purl stitches, all in all it gives a fresh and playful expression, which I think Shelly was the perfect name for.
The Shelly Top is knitted from top to bottom on needle 10 - or the needle you need to hit the knitting tension!
The small sleeves are shaped with turning pins. The collar is made by finally picking up stitches along the neckline.
The top is intended to have a positive ease of approx. 10 cm.
The stated goals are the finished goals of the work. You can choose a size below your own chest measurement and get a close-fitting version, or you can choose a larger size and get an oversize top.
The top will also come soon in a light version, which is knitted on needle 4.
YARN SUGGESTIONS
I have used a mix of 4-5 different types of yarn. I have chosen a relatively airy yarn alla Drops Air, but also stronger yarn such as Drops Snow. Throughout the work, I have knitted with 2 threads - for example 2 threads Drops Air, or a Drops Snow together with a thin yarn that fits needles 2.5 / 3mm. I have also used boucle yarn along with a thinner thread and brushed alpaca.
