ABOUT THE WORK
The Extra Chunky Sweater Junior is the perfect addition to my Extra Chunky Sweater. This pattern has its own small funky details, and room for chunkier needles and chunkier yarn scraps. Thus, you will have a unique, oversized sweater for children in the ages 3-10 y/o in no time.
Since the design is intended to be oversized, it should have an approx. of 30 cm of positive ease. Measure the chest of the child – if it is around 64 cm, you should go for size 7-8 y/o, measuring 96 cm around the chest. If you do not wish the sweater as oversized as the pattern suggests, you can chose the smaller size, as long as you adjust the length of the body and sleeves to fit your child’s size.
The sweater is worked from the bottom up in rounds using 15 mm needles until you reach the hole for sleeves. The front and back are divided and finished separately.
The sleeves are worked from the bottom up using 7 and 10 mm needles. They should be bound off for a sleeve cap, leaving the edges rounded on top and are later attached to the body.
The collar is worked in rounds using single crochet sts.
In the back of the pattern, you can find a guide on how to use scrap yarn. Look at my webpage for more tips and tricks.
