ONESIZE

100-200g scrap yarn

Needle sizes 5 & 7mm

Crochet hook 4 mm

Gauge: 16 sts using 5 mm needles = 10cm worked in broken rib sts

Gauge: 12 sts using 7 mm needles = 10cm worked in garter sts

Workflow

About the mittens

The mittens are worked back and forth, from the bottom and up, while using broken rib sts for the wrist and garter sts (k sts on both sides) the rest of the way up. The thumb is worked after the body of the mitten is done. The sides of the mittens can either be sown or crocheted together.

I have added a decorative crochet rose to the mittens. I have attached it by sowing two strains of yarn from the back of the rose through the sts along the edge on the broken rib sts. Using a 4 mm crochet hook and two strains of yarn measuring 40 cm, I followed the video guide below:

Yarn: The broken rib sts are worked holding two strains of yarn suitable for needles 3 mm together.

The rest of the mitten is also worked holding the two strains together, but adding an extra fat mohair strain. Play around with your scraps to find a suitable yarn combination for you.

ONE SIZE

100-200g leftover yarn

About work

NOTE: THE RECIPE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CROCHETED ROSE

Knit a pair of fine mittens from leftover yarn, without using knitting needles.

The mittens are knitted back and forth, from bottom to top, with pearl rib on the wrist and in garter stitch (knitting on all needles) the rest of the mitten. The thumbs are knitted at the end.
The sides of the mittens are sewn or crocheted together.

I have decorated my mittens with a nice crocheted rose. I followed this guide:
