ABOUT THE WORK
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: BEGINNER
Ma Cherie Pompom is a whimsical hat-like beanie. It is named after the song Ma Cherri Bon bon by Minds of 99.
It comes in one size, but you can easily make it bigger by casting on more stitches, or smaller by casting on fewer stitches - note: the number of stitches must be divisible by 2.
The hat is knitted in the round, from the bottom up. First, knit the rib in rib. The hat is then knitted from the wrong side. Finally, turn the hat so that the right side comes out. This is to get the neat edge out along the bend.
You can also start with Italian stocking and knit the hat if you think it's easier. Or fantasize about how the edge along the ombouket looks and knit in garter stitch anyway.
Finally, make 2 pompoms in different sizes which are sewn onto the top of the hat.
