The Candy Striper blouse is inspired by and named after the iconic Candy Striper girls from the USA. They work voluntarily at the hospitals in fine striped smocks, which I have always been a little crazy about. It was with their look and striped candies in mind that I designed this blouse.
The blouse is knitted from top to bottom, with reversible needles and raglan openings.
The first part of the blouse is knitted back and forth, knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side. The work is then gathered and the lower part of the blouse is knitted in the round.
The sleeves are knitted on circular needle 40 cm, or with magic loop.
Finally, stitches are picked up along the openings of the blouse and buttonhole posts are knitted.
The neckline is finished with crochet stitches, but can also be made with ribbing or a small collar.
